Becoming Catholic - OCIA (formerly RCIA)
Are you interested in the Catholic Faith?
Are you someone or do you know someone who...
Has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?
Has a child over the age of seven who has not been baptized?
Was someone baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
OCIA (formerly known as RCIA), which strands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, ia a process through which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. It includes several stages marked by study, prayer, and rites at Mass. Participants in OCIA are known as catechumens. They undergo a process of conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist.
We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. There are separate sessions for children or youth. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a safe, and welcoming setting.
Most adult Converts were first introduced to the Faith through a friend. Please reach out to someone you know who has questions and invite them to join an inquiry into the Catholic Faith.
“Later, Philip invited Nathaniel to come and listen to Jesus, but Nathaniel was hesitant and skeptical about Jesus. But Philip said to him, ‘Come and see for yourself.’” ~John 1:36
